It allows us to enhance & embrace the natural shape of our bone structure" Maite Tuset,
 MAC Senior Artist

The Highlighting & Contour is the makeup trend of the moment but has been used for many years. Is about  highlight or illuminate those areas that we want to show up and contour with a dark tone those areas that want to hide, making optical illusions on the facial proportions and looking with a face more refined.

The dark tones are usually applied in the 'invisible' line below the cheekbones toward the ears, around the forehead, marke with a thin line the sides of the nose and chin.

The light colors are applied on the nose bone and extends to the beginning of the forehead and on cheekbones.

The products come in all different tones for each type of skin achieving a natural result. You need dark tones (3 times darker than your skin) and lighter tones (3 times lighter than your skin).

The dark tones deepen and hide, while light colors highlight and expand.
  • To light skin- uselight pallette.
  • Medium skin- use middle, intermediate colors.
  • Dark skin-  use medium dark pallette.

You can use cream or powder products, mostly is used correctors palette that has a creamy texture, but also you can use two foundations, one light and one dark,  for powder productsr, bronzer and highligter dou/separates can be used.

Blend with brushes, beauty blender or fingers.

The technique is not a one-size-fits-all, there is one detail to oval, round faces, heart-shaped and squared faces.

With practice and time, you can achieve a very elaborate and natural looking contour.
